People, kids & adults, can come and try an instrument and then play a song together at the big circle jam. This is a very popular activity and we always enjoy meeting the people who come to learn a song and try the instruments.
Bluegrass Festival August 6-8, 2009 (15 photos)
We had a great time at the annual bluegrass festival at El Rancho Manana by Richmond, MN. We did the absolute beginner workshop again and got to play a couple times. We also made friends with the Doerfel family band which performed at the festival for the first time on the main stage.

While on a band vacation we visited and played at the childhood home of Bill Monroe (the father of Bluegrass music). This is also where the RFD TV channel the Cumberland Highlanders' Show is filmed. We were lucky enough to have some our playing documented on vidio tape by Julie Mercer who's dogs seemed to enjoy our playing!!

This was the first bluegrass event at the Viking, MN, school. 3 bands, Pembina Trail, Lois & Lois and Prairegrass, played in the afternoon. Free Indeed played at 7:00 pm and then Sloughgrass at 8:00 pm. Great crowd for a first year festival.
